Thuraya Amin is an Iraqi-Canadian contemporary artist whose figurative and abstract work explores emotion, identity, memory, and the inner human experience. Born and raised in Baghdad, Iraq, she grew up in a culturally rich environment that encouraged her early interest in drawing and painting.
At fourteen, she moved to the United Kingdom, where her artistic development continued through formal and self-directed study in art and art history. Living near London gave her regular access to museums and galleries, deepening her interest in classical painting, sculpture, portraiture, and the expressive possibilities of the human figure.
After relocating to Canada, Thuraya re-entered the public art world through exhibitions and juried shows. Working primarily in oil, with charcoal used for expressive monochrome studies, she brings figurative and abstract approaches together to create work that invites reflection, emotional recognition, and connection.
